Basketball Game Preview: Southeast of Saline Trojans vs. Hugoton Eagles

The Southeast of Saline Trojans will square off against the Hugoton Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Southeast of Saline is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.4 points per game this season.

Last Friday, Southeast of Saline came up short against Clay Center and fell 72-63.

Southeast of Saline's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Gannon Jacobson, who went 13 of 19 on his way to 28 points along with five boards and three steals, and Owen Bailey, who went 8 for 18 en route to 21 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tiernan Ptacek, who posted seven points.

Meanwhile, Hugoton came up short against Hooker on Tuesday, falling 77-52. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 149th in Kansas, while the Bulldogs are ranked 47th in Oklahoma).

Hugoton has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Southeast of Saline, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Southeast of Saline came up short against Hugoton when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 55-47. Can Southeast of Saline avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
