Baseball Recap: Five Straight Home Wins for Muhlenberg

Muhlenberg had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt J.P. McCaskey on Friday. The Muhls blew past the Red Tornado 12-3. The result was nothing new for the Muhls, who have now won three contests by nine runs or more so far this season.

Lincoln High was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Marvin Frias Vargas, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3. He has become a key player for Muhlenberg: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Cole Moody, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

Muhlenberg's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for J.P.
