Football Game Preview: Foothill Cougars vs. Las Plumas Thunderbirds + How To Watch

The Foothill Cougars will host the Las Plumas Thunderbirds at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Foothill will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up six points two weeks ago, then bounced right back against Enterprise on Friday. The Cougars claimed a resounding 43-7 victory over the Hornets. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 171st, while the Hornets are ranked 508th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

John Puffer was nothing short of spectacular: he threw for 220 yards and five TDs while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt. His passing game has become a key predictor of Foothill's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 1-5 otherwise. Ethan Andersen did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 62 receiving yards.

Foothill didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Mason Calvert. Another thorn in Enterprise's side was Kingston Coates, who picked up a sack and made 14 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Las Plumas over Oroville in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Thunderbirds blew the Tigers out of the water with a 43-12 final score. The contest marked the Thunderbirds' most dominant win of the season.

Foothill better keep an eye on Tyler Landucci. He was instrumental in Las Plumas' win, rushing for 69 yards and three touchdowns. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Landucci a new career-high.

Las Plumas was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 224 rushing yards. They are a perfect 5-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

The victory got Foothill back to even at 5-5. As for Las Plumas, their record is now 7-3.
