Basketball Recap: Mckenzie Williams and Payton Futch Secure Win for Lakeside

Lakeside waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They strolled past the Arkansas Razorbacks with points to spare, taking the game 56-37. Given the Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while the Razorbacks are ranked 163rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lakeside was led to victory by Payton Futch and Mckenzie Williams. Futch went 11 for 20 en route to 22 points along with eight steals and six assists, while Williams posted 21 points and four steals. The game was Futch's eighth in a row with at least ten points.

Lakeside smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Lakeside is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.3 points per game. As for Arkansas, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-12.

Lakeside will take on White Hall at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Lakeside has won six straight at home, while White Hall won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for Arkansas, they will head out to face off against Lake Hamilton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
