Basketball Recap: Marshall Comes Up Short

Marshall lost against Richland County back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Marshall Lions took a 43-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Richland County Tigers.

Richland County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kelysse Weiler led the charge by going 6 of 14 en route to 18 points. Weiler is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Aliyah Flittner, who posted six points in addition to six rebounds and five steals.

Marshall's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Richland County, the victory also got them back to even at 5-5.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Marshall Lions take on the South Vermillion Wildcats at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Richland County has already played their next game, a 47-26 win against Carmi-White County on the 17th.
