Basketball Recap: MICHAELA CAZARIN and Ebbin Mallory Secure Win for Kermit

After losing to Presidio the last time they met, Kermit decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Kermit Yellow Jackets sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 44-41 win over the Presidio Blue Devils on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Yellow Jackets have posted since December 2, 2023.

Leading Kermit to victory were Ebbin Mallory and MICHAELA CAZARIN. Mallory dropped a double-double on 14 points and 18 boards, while CAZARIN posted 11 points and five rebounds. That's the most rebounds Mallory has posted since back in December of 2023.

Kermit smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 20 offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Kermit is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Presidio, they now have a losing record at 7-8.

Kermit wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 66-59 loss against Alpine on the 21st. As for Presidio, they are taking a road trip to take on Tornillo at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
