Baseball Game Preview: Central Valley Hawks vs. Heritage Patriots

The Central Valley Hawks will take on the Heritage Patriots at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

While Central Valley's win against Livingston wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Central Valley's pitcher stepped up to hand Livingston a 2-0 shutout on Thursday. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Wolves recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Livingston's batters probably weren't too happy with Ezequiel Verduzco, who pitched a no hitter and racked up eight Ks (he gave up a single walk).

On the hitting side, Central Valley's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Carter Hernandez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Heritage narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Lodi 2-1. The two-run effort marked the Patriots' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Central Valley pushed their record up to 10-5 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Heritage, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
