Soccer Game Preview: Avenal vs. Dos Palos

The Avenal Buccaneers will face off against the Dos Palos Broncos at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Avenal is headed into Tuesday's matchup hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight defeats. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Tranquillity.

Meanwhile, Dos Palos' contest on Friday was close up to the half, which is when they kicked things up a notch. Their defense stepped up to hand Coalinga a 4-0 shutout. The Broncos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by three goals or more this season.

Dos Palos used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Coalinga. Three players got more time on the pitch than they're used to: Hamilton Coy (80), Diego Ponce (80), and Alexis Martinez (80). The trio had averaged 42.6, 52.1, and 49.4 minutes respectively before Friday's matchup. Martinez made the most of the opportunity, putting up one assist and two steals A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.

Dos Palos has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 35 goals over those nine games. As for Avenal, their loss dropped their record down to 15-4-4.
