Softball Recap: Lake Norman Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Lake Norman had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They put the hurt on the West Cabarrus Wolverines with a sharp 20-4 win. That looming 20-4 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Wildcats yet this season.

Alexa Boone made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Avery Evans was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Kail Panaccione was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Lake Norman kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

Lake Norman's record is now 5-1. As for West Cabarrus, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Norman will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against West Wilkes at 6:00 p.m. on March 17th. West Cabarrus also won't see the field for a while: their next matchup is against South Iredell at 6:00 p.m. on March 18th.
