Softball Recap: Thursday's Defeat Ends Jackson's Winning Streak

Jackson came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 12-5 to the South Range Raiders. The Polar Bears' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Jackson got a good showing from Courtney Helle, who tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Furthermore, Helle didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in March.

On the hitting side, Emma Smith made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Madi Moden was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Jackson's defeat dropped their record down to 17-6-1. As for South Range, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season.

Jackson will challenge Canfield at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for South Range, they will take on Keystone in a tournament on Monday.
