Recap: North Sanpete Hawks vs. Richfield Wildcats
The North Sanpete Hawks suffered their biggest defeat since December 6, 2023 on Wednesday. Their tough 71-47 defeat to Richfield might stick with them for a while. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat North Sanpete has suffered against Richfield since January 16, 2019.
Defeat or not, North Sanpete got some senior leadership from Cole Cook who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and two steals and Dimick Huntington who scored 15 points along with two steals. Huntington is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played.
Richfield's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Malik Fautin, who scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that Fautin scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gage Yardley, who scored six points along with eight assists and five rebounds.
North Sanpete's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-7. As for Richfield, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-5.
North Sanpete will be playing at home against Manti at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Manti's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven contests. Richfield on the road again on Wednesday and play against Delta at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th.
