Basketball Recap: Cranbrook Kingswood Has No Trouble Against New Standard Academy

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Shrine Catholic, Cranbrook Kingswood was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 66-48 victory over the New Standard Academy Spartans.

Madeline Day went supernova for Cranbrook Kingswood, putting up 31 points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals. Day is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Justine Casey was another key player, earning 14 points and six boards.

Cranbrook Kingswood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Cranbrook Kingswood's win bumped their record up to 5-13. As for New Standard Academy, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-7.

Looking ahead, Cranbrook Kingswood will head out on the road to challenge Marian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cranbrook Kingswood has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for New Standard Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against More Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
