While Melbourne's win against Cocoa Beach wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Melbourne had just enough and edged out Cocoa Beach 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted since February 27th.

Landon Barney tossed a big game, tossing 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Bryce Conner and Bryson Ayala did most of the damage at the plate: Conner went 3-for-4 with two RBI, while Ayala scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Ayala has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Tony Burrows, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Melbourne pushed their record up to 11-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Cocoa Beach, they moved to 8-7 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Melbourne will host Eau Gallie at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cocoa Beach, they will be playing at home against Titusville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
