Baseball Recap: Mayfield Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Mayfield can now relate to. They fell just short of the Fort Plain Hilltoppers by a score of 5-4 on Wednesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hilltoppers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-6 last Wednesday.

Mayfield saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landon Conyne, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Carter Goodemote was another, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Mayfield's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Fort Plain, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-10.

As of now, neither Mayfield nor the Hilltoppers have any future games scheduled.
