Basketball Recap: Castle Park Comes Up Short

Castle Park was the 55-50 winner over Hilltop when they last played one another two weeks ago, but their luck changed this time around. The Castle Park Trojans were just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 43-42 to the Hilltop Lancers. The Trojans just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

Hilltop's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Isaac Verdugo, who went 6 for 7 on his way to 13 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Adrian Alvarez, who went 5 of 11 en route to 12 points and three steals.

Castle Park's defeat dropped their record down to 8-16. As for Hilltop, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 9-16.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Castle Park will venture away from home to take on Chula Vista at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hilltop, they will square off against Sweetwater at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
