Football Game Preview: Munford Cougars vs. Brighton Cardinals

The Munford Cougars will face off against the Brighton Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Munford's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.

Munford's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They breezed past Overton to the tune of 68-0. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by 23 points or more this season.

Bricen Turnage was his usual excellent self, rushing for 162 yards and one score on only seven carries. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in November of 2024. Another rusher making a difference was Qua Bell, who rushed for 26 yards and a pair of TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Munford was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 425 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 226 rushing yards in four consecutive matchups.

Another reason for the win was Munford's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Turnage, Kylan Sharp, and Brody Materna, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Meanwhile, Brighton came up short against White Station two weeks ago and fell 21-14.

Munford pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Brighton, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Everything went Munford's way against Brighton in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as Munford made off with a 29-7 win. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cardinals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
