Baseball Game Preview: Brighton Bengals vs. Viewmont Vikings

The Brighton Bengals will square off against the Viewmont Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Brighton is headed into the matchup having just posted their closest win since March 25th on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Ridgeline 8-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bengals.

Wilder Strong looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Brighton is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-8 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Jonathon Ellis was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Brighton: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Broden Fry, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Viewmont let Olympus stack six runs on them in the fourth inning on Friday but luckily Viewmont prevailed anyway. The Vikings had just enough and edged out the Titans 8-7.

Viewmont saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bennett Smith, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases Smith has posted since back in March. Boston Williams was another, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Viewmont's win bumped their record up to 4-12. As for Brighton, their victory bumped their record up to 6-9.
