Softball Recap: Peoria Comes Up Short

Peoria extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 40 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-18 in the process. They lost 19-1 to the Deer Valley Skyhawks. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 22-0 to the Skyhawks when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Deer Valley, their win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-5-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by seven runs or more this season.

For Deer Valley's part, they got a massive performance out of Leila Hermosillo, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Kyla Decker was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and two doubles.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Deer Valley beat Peoria by a score of 13-3 on Thursday.
