Recap: Pinon Eagles vs. Northland Prep Academy Spartans
If the Pinon Eagles were riding high off their 63-26 takedown of the Music Mountain Warriors last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Pinon fell 47-38 to Northland Prep Academy on Saturday. Pinon was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Northland Prep Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2021.
Pinon lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Alysia Mike, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds and three steals. Mike hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Aliyah Tsedah, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Northland Prep Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Grace Schulz, who scored 12 points along with seven steals. Schulz has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Nat Auker was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 19 rebounds.
Pinon's loss dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Northland Prep Academy, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 12-7.
Pinon will be playing at home against Hopi at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopi is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Northland Prep Academy, they will head out on the road to take on Basis at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Basis is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
