Baseball Recap: Mesquite Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Mesquite ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They won by a run and slipped past the Mingus Marauders 7-6. That's more bragging rights for the Wildcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The team relied heavily on Kolby Noehren, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Mesquite is 4-0-1 when Noehren posts two or more runs, but 5-17 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Matthew Rooney, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Mesquite kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Mesquite's victory bumped their record up to 9-17-1. As for Mingus, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-14 record this season.

As of now, neither Mesquite nor Mingus have any future games scheduled.
