Basketball Recap: Paige Tietjen's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Thayer Central over Guardian Angels Central Catholic

Thayer Central has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They lost 59-38 to the Guardian Angels Central Catholic Bluejays on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bluejays this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 65-49 back in December of 2024.

Thayer Central's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Paige Tietjen, who went 7-for-11 on her way to 20 points and five rebounds. Tietjen's big performance that evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Leah Havel, who posted eight points and six boards.

Thayer Central's defeat dropped their record down to 18-7. As for Guardian Angels Central Catholic, their win was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-5.

Thayer Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Guardian Angels Central Catholic, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Bluejays challenge the Eagles at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday.
