Salem had lost 11 games at home dating back to last season, but after bumping their record up to 3-12 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They skirted past the Bayside Marlins 8-7. This was a revenge game for the Sundevils: when they faced off against the Marlins two weeks ago, they had to take a 18-10 defeat.

Zachary Rigsby was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Rigsby was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one run. Salem is 2-1 when Rigsby posts two or more stolen bases, but 1-11 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landen Stice, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryker Leahy, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
As for Bayside, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-10. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by just one run.
Like Salem, Bayside also got a great game from a two-way player: Zackery Schilmoeller. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Schilmoeller has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Schilmoeller wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tayden Jackson, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Barry Farias Jr was another, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Salem will face off against rival First Colonial at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Bayside is set to square off against their familiar foe Landstown at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
