Basketball Recap: Frenship Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Frenship unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were dealt a 65-37 defeat at the hands of the Eastlake Falcons on Saturday. The Tigers lost against the Falcons in their previous head to head back in November of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 54-51 score last time.

Caleb Gutierrez had a dynamite game For Eastlake., going 7-for-9 to rack up 15 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals. What's more, Gutierrez also posted a 78% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Braeden Quigley, who shot 88% from the field en route to 16 points and seven boards.

Eastlake has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Looking ahead, Frenship will square off against Tascosa at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Eastlake, they will face off against El Paso at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
