Elizabethton won the last time they faced University School and things went their way on Monday too. The Fighting Cyclones skirted past the Buccaneers 3-1.

Jackson Buckles spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, JD Hooks was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Justin Whitehead was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Elizabethton is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-11 record this season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.67 runs across that stretch. As for University School, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elizabethton will face off against Sullivan East at 6:30 a.m. on Monday. As for University School, they will challenge Madison at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Buccaneers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season.
