Basketball Recap: Wayne Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Hunter Robins and Tristin Martinez

Wayne was the 64-54 winner over Valley when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Wayne Badgers took a 53-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Valley Buffalos on Wednesday. The Badgers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Tristin Martinez and Hunter Robins certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Martinez posted ten points and six boards, while Robins had ten points and four blocks. Those ten points gave Martinez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Russell VanDyke, who scored seven points.

Wayne's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-11. As for Valley, they pushed their record up to 13-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wayne will square off against Panguitch at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Panguitch's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven matchups. Valley has already played their next game (against Piute), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
