Softball Game Preview: Stamford Black Knights vs. Danbury Hatters

The Stamford Black Knights will challenge the Danbury Hatters at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Stamford has given up an average of 8.4 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Stamford is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Ridgefield just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Monday. They came up short against the Tigers, falling 18-2. The matchup marked the Black Knights' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Danbury waltzed into their contest on Monday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Everything went their way against the Warriors as they made off with an 11-3 victory. Considering the Hatters have won five matches by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Avianna Hul and Chloe Trimandilis did most of the damage at the plate: Hul went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Trimandilis went 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four hits gave Trimandilis a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Lopez, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Danbury pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Stamford, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

Stamford was able to grind out a solid win over Danbury in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 5-0. Do the Black Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hatters turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
