Softball Game Preview: Devine Warhorses vs. Floresville Tigers/Jaguars

The Devine Warhorses will take on the Floresville Tigers/Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Devine is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.

Last Friday, Devine came out on top against Pearsall by a score of 7-4 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The win continues a trend for the Warhorses in their matchups with the Mavericks: they've now won three in a row.

Tucker Traylor spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Maddie Brown, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Yaya Rodriguez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Devine was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pearsall only posted a batting average of .259.

Meanwhile, Floresville posted their closest victory since February 27th on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Pleasanton, sneaking past 4-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers/Jaguars.

Floresville's win bumped their record up to 8-15. As for Devine, their victory bumped their record up to 16-4.

Devine beat Floresville 6-1 in their previous meeting on March 7th. Will Devine repeat their success, or does Floresville has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
