Basketball Recap: Olivia Hodo Key Part of a Team Effort in Warriors Win

Waccamaw's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They strolled past the Aynor Blue Jackets with points to spare, taking the game 46-30. That's more bragging rights for the Warriors, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Waccamaw's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Olivia Hodo, who posted seven points along with eight rebounds and four steals. With that strong performance, Hodo is now averaging an impressive 2.5 steals per game. Halina Gregory was another key player, putting up two points in addition to seven steals and six assists.

Waccamaw smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Aynor lost, don't look at Terianna Richardson. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 boards. That was a full 43.3% of Aynor's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's scored more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Elisha Huffman, who had five points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Waccamaw's record now sits at 8-11. As for Aynor, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-9.

Waccamaw will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Georgetown at 6:00 p.m. on January 28th. Waccamaw is facing Georgetown at the right time seeing as Georgetown is stuck on an 11-game losing streak. Aynor has already played their next contest (against Conway Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
