Baseball Recap: Etiwanda Comes Up Short on the Road Against La Mirada

Etiwanda kicked off their season on the road on Saturday and hit a couple of potholes. They lost 9-2 to the La Mirada Matadores. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Matadores apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2018.

Etiwanda got a good showing from CJ Monzon, who pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.

On the hitting side, Jaeden Toki was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one double. Another player making a difference was Ryan Severns, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.

Etiwanda didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 10-10 draw against Maranatha on the 25th. As for La Mirada, they have also already played their next game, a 3-0 win against St. Augustine on the 25th.
