Basketball Recap: Faith Christian Takes a Loss

Faith Christian was the 45-44 winner over Union Grove Christian when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Faith Christian Eagles took a hard 63-47 fall against the Union Grove Christian Patriots on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 314th, while the Patriots are ranked 129th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Union Grove Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Garrett Trinkle, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 16 points along with seven steals and five boards. Those seven steals gave Trinkle a new career-high. Colin Wykes was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 13 points and nine assists.

Faith Christian's loss dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Union Grove Christian, they pushed their record up to 18-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home.

Faith Christian will challenge Alamance Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Union Grove Christian has already played their next game, a 71-52 win against Veritas Christian Academy on the 18th.
