The Woodrow Wilson Flying Eagles will take on the Wyoming East Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Woodrow Wilson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.
Woodrow Wilson proved they can win big on Monday (they won by seven) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Oak Hill 7-6. The victory was nothing new for the Flying Eagles as they're now sitting on three straight.

03/29/25 @ Shady Spring | 10 |

Maddex Sims was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 14 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Woodrow Wilson: the team is 9-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-6 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brady Williams, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in March. Drew Gallaher was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Wyoming East made easy work of Midland Trail on Thursday and carried off a 16-1 win. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by six runs or more this season.
Like Woodrow Wilson, Wyoming East also got a great game from a two-way player: Jaeden Lester. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lester has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
In other batting news, Miken Smyth was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Biggs, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs.
Wyoming East always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Midland Trail only posted an OBP of .167.
Wyoming East is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Woodrow Wilson, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 11-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Woodrow Wilson has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Wyoming East struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Woodrow Wilson took their victory against Wyoming East when the teams last played back in April of 2022 by a conclusive 15-3 score. Will the Flying Eagles repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
