Hughson proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by ten) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Hilmar Yellowjackets 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Huskies have posted against the Yellowjackets since March 16, 2022.

Tanner Ehlers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Hughson's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Isaac Lupercio, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Hughson is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-14 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Hilmar, they moved to 10-9 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Hughson beat the Yellowjackets by a score of 3-1 on Saturday.
