Softball Recap: Alexandria Trojans vs. Holy Savior Menard Eagles
Alexandria had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They skirted past the Holy Savior Menard Eagles 10-9. The Trojans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.
Mary Claire Brinkman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Brinkman was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Anniston Fairbanks was excellent, scoring a run and stealing one base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Sarah Grace Buckels, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Alexandria will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against David Thibodaux at 4:00 p.m. on February 19th. As for Holy Savior Menard, they are headed away from home for the first time to challenge Montgomery at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Holy Savior Menard has played (dating back to last season) have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
