Basketball Recap: Elkhorn Comes Up Short

Elkhorn suffered their biggest defeat since December 13, 2024 on Friday. They were outmatched by the Skutt Catholic SkyHawks and fell 67-35. While losing is never fun, the Antlers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while the SkyHawks are ranked fifth).

Elkhorn lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Peter Howard, who posted nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Petersen, who put up six points.

Elkhorn's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Skutt Catholic, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 17-4.

Coming up, Elkhorn will host Blair at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Skutt Catholic, they will head out on the road to face off against Bishop Heelan Catholic on Tuesday. One thing working in Skutt Catholic's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matchups.
