Baseball Recap: Old Town Finds Playoff Glory Versus Belfast

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Old Town had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They skirted past the Belfast Lions 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Coyotes have posted since May 1st.

Julian Duty was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-6 with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other batting news, Nate Baker was incredible, firing off two home runs and one stolen base while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. Parker Day was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and one RBI.

Old Town kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win was the third in a row for Old Town, bringing their record up to 10-7. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Belfast, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-6.

As of now, neither Old Town nor the Lions have any future games scheduled.
