Basketball Recap: Gulf Coast HEAT Takes a Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Gulf Coast HEAT couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They were outmatched by the Babcock Trailblazers and fell 59-28. Gulf Coast HEAT has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.

Marianeliz Murillo continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Babcock, dropping a double-double with 23 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Murillo a new career-high in shooting accuracy (77%). Makena Ferry was another key player, putting up ten points along with seven boards and five assists.

Gulf Coast HEAT's loss dropped their record down to 18-9. As for Babcock, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.

Gulf Coast HEAT does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Babcock, they will face off against Keswick Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keswick Christian will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Babcock surely won't give up without a fight.
