Baseball Recap: El Cerrito Drops Highest Score of Season Against De Anza

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask El Cerrito). They were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the De Anza Dons on Wednesday. The victory was familiar territory for the Gauchos, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Jackson Beebout looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jaxon Coles, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Ellis Fuller was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

El Cerrito was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

El Cerrito's win bumped their record up to 11-5. As for De Anza, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-9-1.

El Cerrito will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Dons: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
