Preview: Petersburg Vikings vs. Tucker County Mountain Lions

Petersburg is 7-2 against Tucker County since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Petersburg Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Tucker County Mountain Lions at 7:00 p.m. Petersburg is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.

Last Friday, Petersburg came up short against Uniontown and fell 14-6. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Petersburg came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 76th in West Virginia, while Uniontown is ranked 491st in Pennsylvania).

Meanwhile, Tucker County put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 40-6 win over Smithsburg at home. Considering Tucker County has won six matchups by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

The critical scores for Tucker County came from Racer Channel, Maddox Anderson, and blaike adams.

The team won by holding Smithsburg to a paltry 39 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Tucker County's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out three times before it was all said and done. Gavin Mullenax was especially locked on to Smithsburg's QB and sacked him three times.

Uniontown's victory bumped their season record to 3-6 while Petersburg's loss dropped theirs to 4-4.

Petersburg came up short against Tucker County in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, falling 26-13. Can Petersburg avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
