Softball Recap: Metea Valley Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Metea Valley won the last time they faced Hinsdale South and things went their way on Saturday too. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Hornets with a sharp 19-6 victory.

Charlie Benesh made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. Benesh was even better at the plate, firing off three home runs, five runs, and five RBI while going 4-for-5. Those three home runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Metea Valley got a massive performance out of Grace Feeley, who scored three runs while going 2-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Aleyna French, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.

Metea Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matchups.

Metea Valley's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-8. As for Hinsdale South, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-10-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Metea Valley will take on Neuqua Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Hinsdale South, they will face off against Nazareth Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
