Basketball Game Preview: Adrian/Ellsworth Dragons vs. Russell-Tyler-Ruthton Knights

Adrian/Ellsworth is 0-3 against Russell-Tyler-Ruthton since December of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Adrian/Ellsworth Dragons will face off against the Russell-Tyler-Ruthton Knights at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Adrian/Ellsworth took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda, sneaking past 47-44. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Dragons as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Russell-Tyler-Ruthton came tearing into Tuesday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Falcons 86-51. The Knights' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Russell-Tyler-Ruthton's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 31.9 points. As for Adrian/Ellsworth, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 4-9.

Adrian/Ellsworth took a serious blow against Russell-Tyler-Ruthton in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 93-58. Can Adrian/Ellsworth avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
