Basketball Recap: Janelle Swaby's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Coral Springs over Pembroke Pines Charter

Coral Springs has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 45-43 heartbreaker at the hands of the Pembroke Pines Charter Jaguars. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Colts have suffered since January 6, 2024.

Coral Springs lost on Thursday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Janelle Swaby, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. That's the most points Swaby has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Nethania Noel-Jeune, who went 5 for 12 on her way to 14 points.

Pembroke Pines Charter got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Madison Ojeda out in front who posted 18 points. The match was Ojeda's third in a row with at least ten points. Marai Osborne was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Coral Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Pembroke Pines Charter, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Coral Springs will welcome Blanche Ely at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pembroke Pines Charter, they will host St. Thomas Aquinas at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
