Hardee has gone a perfect 10-0 against Avon Park recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Hardee Wildcats will venture away from home to take on the Avon Park Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. Hardee comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Hardee lost 11-4 to Lemon Bay on Friday.
Hardee got a good showing from Emalyn Johnston, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Lunna Guajardo was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kirstyn Faulkner, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Avon Park, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 20-1 margin over Clewiston on Friday. That 19 run margin sets a new team best for the Red Devils this season.
Sophia Heston made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-1. She also got a hit, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, Skylar Hicks was a standout: she went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Kamya Brassell, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.
Avon Park pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Hardee, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.
Hardee took their victory against Avon Park in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hardee since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
