Tri-Valley - West recap October 29, 2013

Wyatt Towne of Michigan Lutheran Seminary ran for the longest rushing play in Tri-Valley - West this season against All Saints Central last week. Towne scampered for 75 yards on the play and finished with 173 on the day as his team defeated the Cougars.

Ithaca added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Shepherd, 52-0. The win marks ninth in a row for the the Yellowjackets.

Travis Smith threw for 204 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was 12-17 with 0 interceptions.

Logan Gatza provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Valley Lutheran fell to Coleman. He completed 14 passes for 229 yards and 2 touchdowns and also ran for 140 yards. Gatza's favorite target this week was Blake Maurer, who caught 3 passes for 109 yards.

Maurer was the best receiver in the league this week as the Chargers lost to the Comets. Maurer tallied 3 receptions for 109 yards. Seth Keinath helped Valley Lutheran's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 82 yards.

6-foot-3 quarterback Smith of Ithaca is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,839. He has also thrown 26 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Nathanael Schroeder. The Michigan Lutheran Seminary star has 31 catches for 554 yards.

Going into this week's game against Meridian, Terry Hessbrook's team's Smith needs 161 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season.

St. Charles and Hemlock played the closest game in Tri-Valley - West this week, with St. Charles eventually emerging with a 13-7 victory.
