Preview: Carver Yellowjackets vs. Mountain Heritage Cougars
Carver has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on The Mountain Heritage Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, everything went Carver's way against Winston-Salem Prep as Carver made off with a 34-12 victory.
Carver found their leader in underclassman Antonio Samuels, who rushed for 62 yards and four touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Mountain Heritage had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.3 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They breezed by Draughn at home to the tune of 52-15. The result was nothing new for Mountain Heritage, who have now won five games by 28 points or more so far this season.
Brandon Quinn was his usual excellent self, rushing for 286 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 15.1 yards per carry, and also throwing for 24 yards and a touchdown on only two passes. Quinn is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played. Lane Chandler also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Carver's victory pushed their record up to 2-8, while Mountain Heritage's bumped their own up to the opposite: 8-2.
