Baseball Recap: Ballou Sets Scoring Season-High Against Coolidge

Ballou had lost four straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 0-6 to make it five. They lost 26-4 to the Coolidge Colts. On the bright side, the four- run performance marked the Knights' highest-scoring contest to date.

As for Coolidge, their win bumped their record up to 4-12. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

For Coolidge's part, Tate Appleforsberg was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up four earned runs but no hits. Those nine strikeouts gave Appleforsberg a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Coolidge is undefeated when Appleforsberg posts two or more runs, but 1-12 otherwise.

In other batting news, Rodrigo Cabrera-Garcia was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Orion Fernandez was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs.

Ballou does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Coolidge, they will take on Jackson-Reed at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Colts surely won't give up without a fight.
