After five games on the road, Amphitheater is heading back home. They will take on the Safford Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Safford took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Amphitheater, who comes in off a win.
Amphitheater has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 26 points or more this season. They blew past Desert View, posting a 52-20 victory on the road. Given Amphitheater's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while Desert View is ranked 236th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Amphitheater found their leader in underclassman Kimora Blackmon, who scored 22 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Blackmon is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now stole two or more in the last ten games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Shanise Bustamante, who scored 10 points along with 8 rebounds and 8 steals.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Safford, who are still winless after their fourth matchup. The game between Safford and Fort Thomas wasn't particularly close, with Safford falling 47-33.
Amphitheater's win lifted them to 10-2 while Desert View's loss dropped them down to 0-6.
