Rylan Staff made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Staff was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI.
In other batting news, Mac'Yia Warner was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Kiannah Miles was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
El Campo hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in seven consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Wharton had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victor by a 20-2 margin over Hill Country Christian School of Austin on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Tigers considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Wharton let B Gilmore and Alenna Castillo run wild. Gilmore scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Castillo scored two runs while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of K Hernandez, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
El Campo's record is now 12-2-1. As for Wharton, their record now sits at 3-6.
