Softball Game Preview: Cerro Gordo/Bement Broncos vs. Decatur Eisenhower Panthers

The Cerro Gordo/Bement Broncos will face off against the Decatur Eisenhower Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Cerro Gordo/Bement will be strutting in after a victory while Decatur Eisenhower will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with 11 defeats in a row, Cerro Gordo/Bement turned things around against St. Teresa on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Bulldogs 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Broncos have posted since May 10, 2024.

Mya Durbin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on eight hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Cerro Gordo/Bement's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Sierra Personette, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Decatur Eisenhower was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 19-0 to Mt. Zion.

Decatur Eisenhower's defeat dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Cerro Gordo/Bement, their victory bumped their record up to 4-15.

Everything went Cerro Gordo/Bement's way against Decatur Eisenhower in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Cerro Gordo/Bement made off with a 15-2 win. Do the Broncos have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
