Newton-Conover hasn't lost a match since August 22nd, a trend which continued in their latest game on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Hickory Red Tornadoes 2-1. The game was the first time Newton-Conover have beaten Hickory on their pitch since August 28, 2017.

Josue Macias-Sevilla and D'Alessandro Chavez-Hernandez scored both of Newton-Conover's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 17 goals.

Newton-Conover is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-1-3 record this season. As for Hickory, their defeat ended a five-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-3-3.

Newton-Conover and Hickory should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. The Red Devils will face off against Bandys at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (27 vs. 207). Meanwhile, Hickory (ranked 50th) will meet Foard (ranked 305th) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
