Recap: Monrovia Bulldogs vs. Indianapolis Shortridge Blue Devils
The Monrovia Bulldogs can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They came out on top against Indianapolis Shortridge by a score of 68-59. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Monrovia's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jayden Jones, who scored 23 points along with two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Clay Tharp, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Indianapolis Shortridge's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Vontrell Kittrell, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Kittrell continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Jalen Yates was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Monrovia's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-9. As for Indianapolis Shortridge, they dropped their record down to 3-14 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monrovia will take on Brown County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Indiana (Brown County is ranked 341st, while Monrovia is ranked 349th). As for Indianapolis Shortridge, they will be playing at home against Speedway at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
